WhentheAnti-Japanese Warbrokeoutin1937,PekingUniversity,TsinghuaUniversityandNankai UniversitymovedtoKunmingandmergedintotheNationalSouthwestAssociated University,whichconsistedofSchoolofArts,SchoolofScience,Schoolof Engineering,SchoolofBusinessandLaw,andTeachersSchool.Afterthewar ended,thethreecomponentuniversitiesmovedbacktotheiroriginalcampusesin thenorth,whereastheTeachersSchool,nowrenamedNationalKunmingNormal College,remainedinKunmingasanindependentinstitution.Itadoptedthename ofKunmingNormalCollegein1950andwasrenamedYunnanNormalUniversityin 1984.Uptonow,ithasproduceddmorethan200,000graduatesofdifferent kindsandisrightfullyknownastheCradleofQualifiedTeachersonthe LateriticPlateau.
